Welcome to UPM’s Local Arts Program
Contrary to what may be the perception, the arts flourish in Idaho. From writers and musicians to filmmakers and fine artists, locals and visitors alike find that talent abounds here.
Because fine art is part of the fabric that makes a residence a home, and because we are very proud of the level of artistic talent here, UPM wanted to do its small part to foster awareness of the range of beautiful and fascinating creations these gifted people bring to all of us.
So welcome to UPM’s Local Arts Program. This is our online gallery of photographs, paintings, sculptures, murals, and other types of artwork produced locally. We will rotate artists and art pieces on a regular basis, so check back often. We encourage you to wander at your leisure and to contact any artist about their work and how to purchase their art. They will be delighted to hear from you. Bernie Jestrabek-Hart sculpts metal and barbed wire for collectors throughout the world. Jestrabek-Hart creates with steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, and barbed wire in many different styles a multitude of subjects and sizes, including monumental works for landmarks and school mascots, and pieces for home and garden.
Bernie has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education. In 1980 she was introduced to welded wire and steel in a sculpture class and found her passion. Her book, entitled “Creating Realistic Works with Barbed Wire” is an explicit tutorial, sharing her personal techniques. She also teaches classes and gives workshops.![]()
